Autodesk released Maya LT at the end of last month. Targeted at mobile and Indie games artists, Maya LT offers many of the features found in the full version of Maya. Read more.

We've been using SVN as our primary means of source control for many years now. Our favorite SVN plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 is VisualSVN. The interesting thing about VisualSVN is that under the covers it uses TortoiseSVN. Read more.

31 July 2013.
This month saw the Khronos™ Group release the specifications for OpenGL 4.4 at SIGGRAPH. NVIDIA has already released drivers that support OpenGL 4.4. The drivers can be downloaded from here. Further information about OpenGL 4.4 can be found here.

28 June 2013.
Microsoft has released details of the next version of DirectX at this year's Build conference. DirectX 11.2 will be exclusive to Windows 8.1 and the Xbox One console. The new features of DirectX 11.2 are described in the Windows 8.1 Preview release notes found here.

Earlier this month saw the release of GPU Pro 4. This is the latest installment of the industry acclaimed GPU Pro series of books written by some of the most respected experts in the industry. We have been long time fans of the series and highly recommend this latest volume.

30 April 2013.
Early this month Microsoft released Visual Studio 2012 Update 2. Aside from the plethora of new features and bug fixes Update 2 also includes a new Blue theme for the IDE. This Blue theme will make the IDE look like the Visual Studio 2010 IDE.

Like most Windows developers, we use Microsoft Visual Studio exclusively for all our development needs on a daily basis. Over the years Microsoft Visual Studio's IntelliSense feature has improved. However we still prefer Visual Assist X by Whole Tomato Software and highly recommend it! (Editor: We are in no way affiliated with Whole Tomoto Software. We just really like Visual Assist X).

31 January 2013.
Due to the lack of development support for XNA and the waning interest in that technology by Microsoft in favor of the Windows Phone platform, we will no longer produce any new content that targets XNA. We will continue to support all of our existing XNA demos.
